Memory Café is working with Dementia friendly Honiton in setting up a new walking group. This will be a group for younger people who have been newly diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment or early stage dementia.
The project will add to a busy schedule of events and activities: we’re only half way through 2025 and already we can look back on a very active year.
The fun started back in January with a visit from Sidmouth Ukulele Band and a talk by Hugh Sutherland and his sailing adventures in the Global Challenge. In February café goers drew on their artistic talents, adding clay tile portraits to Coco’s Sidmouth Faces exhibition.
Spring highlight was our annual visit to see the spectacular bluebell vista at Blackberry Camp followed by an equally spectacular cream tea at Blackberry Honey Farm.
No less a highlight was a visit from local artist Steve McCracken, whose characterful seagull street art in Sidmouth is a real life enhancer.
Entertainment from singer and guitarist Brian Lawless followed by a delicious Italian meal cooked and served by special memory café friend, Mukie, set the scene for a warm and colourful summer.
Before Memory Café takes a short break in August, a trip to the lovely Tracey Estate for an afternoon of tea, cake and jazz will be our high summer highlight.
