June has really “busted out” at Twyford House, serving up plenty of creative activity from culinary art to the purely visual kind.
First, the cafe’s very good friend Mukie Gosrani presented cafe goers with another splendid meal. This time Mukie and his sous chefs Nora and Valentina cooked up a traditional Ukrainian meal of vegetables in bone broth served with plenty of crusty bread, followed by strawberry cheesecake washed down by a glass of wine.
A collection following the meal raised £180 for a Ukrainian charity.
There was more excitement when Louise and Coco from Sidmouth Art School visited cafegoers to discuss their latest flag project. Their aim is to help local organisations to describe themselves in a colourful flag designs for a summer display in the town. Memory Cafe members then set about designing a flag to represent the Cafe and what it means to them. After lots of wonderful doodling the draft design was agreed. Louise and Coco will now make the flag ready to display with others around town.
And last week local artist, Steve McCracken, paid his second visit to Twyford House. Steve, who adorns Sidmouth with his much-loved street artwork, Sid the Seagull, inspired cafegoers to produce their own colourful pictures of sea life, see main picture. Below: Coco and Louise, and Mukie’s latest triumph.
